5 Ways to help your aging Dog:

1. Flooring: Make sure your dog has slip-free flooring. Hardwood, tile and linoleum floors are slippery and it

can be difficult for dogs with arthritis to gain secure footing. Placing carpet or area rugs will help secure your

dog's footing and prevent an injury from slipping.

2. Massage: Massage can increase flexibility, circulation, and create a general sense of wellness. You can do it

yourself or seek a professional animal massage therapist.

3. Weight control: Arthritis is more of a problem in obese pets. Weight loss can be beneficial by helping to

reduce the workload on the bones and joints.

4. Supplements: Just as we need supplements so do some dogs. Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate have

been shown to help dogs with arthritis, reduce pain and improve mobility. Always check with your vet first.

5. A bed: Soft bedding can help support the bones and joints and make your pet more comfortable. Some beds

are made especially for dogs with arthritis, such as waterbeds, hammock beds, and beds with plenty of extra

cushioning.

Quote of the Month: If you stop every time a dog barks your road will never end.” Arabian Proverb
