I'm writing to let you know that this past Thursday, I had the chance to address the Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities Standing Committee of the Federal Government, in Ottawa.
It was a great chance for me to present to the federal government about Breaking The Cycle, Ontario's Poverty Reduction Strategy.
It was an excellent opportunity to engage on this important issue, and specifically, to address the requests that we've made of the federal government.
While I was pleased to see some of the elements of the most recent federal budget, including an enhancement to the Working Income Tax Benefit, there's still more to be done.
Most importantly, presenting to the committee was a perfect example of the "all hands on deck" approach that we need to reduce poverty in Ontario. I encourage you to contact your federal member of parliament with your support.
