The Knights-Spitfire Series have inspired the mayors of London and Windsor to take part in a friendly off-ice challenge.
London Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best and Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis have agreed to the competition to see which City’s team will come out victorious following the seven game series.
The winning mayor will take great pleasure in watching their counterpart wear the team jersey at an upcoming Council meeting.
“We’re both big fans of our local hockey teams and will be following this series with great interest,” said Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best. “The Knights are stacked with talent, from award winning coaches to some of the best players in the OHL, so it’s obvious to me that London’s team will win the series and go on to bring the Memorial Cup back to London.” “The Windsor Spitfires are the league champions and I’m confident that they will be tough and consistently outscore the Knights,” said Mayor Eddie Francis. “This is an exciting series between two of the dominating teams in Ontario today.”
