City of London Press Release

"Spring is finally here. With the warmer weather upon us, there is no better time to enjoy the bike and walking trails, amazing parks and recreational facilities and programs in London," says Sally Thomson, London Recreation Services Supervisor.

"We purposely designed the program to be simple, inexpensive and most of all fun.

We want folks to get active and be healthy!" A series of four seasonal activity challenges have been created to incorporate local facilities, physical activity and interaction with family and friends. This program has been made possible with funding from the Communities in Action Fund (CIAF). CIAF, launched in 2004, is a key component of the ACTIVE2010 Strategy.

The multi-year fund aims to increase the level of physical activity and sport participation rates in Ontario by assisting local and provincial not-for-profit organizations to create and enhance opportunities for physical activity and community sport and recreation. London aims to increase physical activity among its residents by 10 per cent from 2005 until the year 2010.
