SEASON ENDS ON A HIGH NOTE WITH

OPERATIC SERENADE BRUNCH

LONDON – Orchestra London’s Serenade Brunch ends on a high note as soloists from the Canadian Operatic Arts Academy perform scenes from some of the world’s most beloved operas, May 24 at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn.

Director Sophie Roland, music director Mark Payne and a host of vocal coaches, directors and conductors – including Orchestra London’s own Timothy Vernon – will be working with 26 emerging singers, May 4 to 23 at the University of Western Ontario’s Don Wright Faculty of Music.

“We auditioned across the country and will be taking participants through a very intensive training program,” says Payne. “These are all young professionals starting out on their careers.” Highlights from the elite training program - including scenes from Der Rosenkavalier, Falstaff, Rigoletto and Madama Butterfly - will be presented at the Serenade Brunch finale.

“The scenes are all staged and will include some big ensemble numbers so we’ll be using the big open area at the brunch,” Payne says. “This is definitely a more extensive opera brunch than we’ve ever done in the past.”
