Cody Neville of Norwich District High School and Jessica Kamphuis of South Secondary School will represent Thames Valley students at the Board table as Student Trustees during the 2009-2010 school year. The two Grade 11 students were recently elected by their peers.
Cody will represent the interests of the rural students of Thames Valley and Jessica will represent the London students beginning in September.
In their challenging role as Student Trustees, they will be non-voting members of the Board, but will have the same opportunity for participation at Board meetings and committees granted to Trustees.
They will be required to attend Board meetings and consult with students to keep them informed about current educational issues that are of concern to students. Both Cody and Jessica will have the responsibility of sharing the student perspective on issues which will benefit the students by bringing their voice to the Board table. Collaboratively, they plan to work to implement strategies to better communicate with all students of Thames Valley.
Cody and Jessica will continue the work of current student trustees Jacob Rowe of West Elgin Secondary School and Laura Varghese of Saunders Secondary School whose term ends July 31.
