  • London Police are currently investigating a series of related incidents involving acts of vandalism that occurred in the same neighbourhood and time period. These acts appear to be crimes of opportunity and appear to be random.

The acts of vandalism include sheds broken into, damaged flower beds, a fire to a fence and a fire to a residence. Furthermore, a Molotov cocktail was present at both fire scenes on Victoria Street and the fire to a fence on the property on Strathmeyer Street.

Police believe that youths are responsible for these incidents and that they broke into garden sheds and stole gasoline and garden tools which were located nearby.

The incidents are of major concern to the Police due to the seriousness of this crime. At the time of the fire on Victoria Street an elderly couple were sleeping and woke to the noise that was created by the fire. The potential risk to occupants could have grave consequences.
Police are asking for the public's assistance in reporting any suspicious people, vehicles and activity observed in the area of the two reported fires between the hours of 4 and 6 am on July 31 2009.

Investigators believe the suspects may have come into direct contact with gasoline and may have evidence of this on their clothing. Citizens (including parents) are requested to contact

Police with any similar information.Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. You can also provide your tips online at www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
