London Police Service is currently conducting Project L.E.A.R.N. in the City.
Compared to last year, the first weekend of September 2009 was relatively quiet. The London Police had an increased presence for the first weekend of Project L.E.A.R.N. in September 2009 compared to the same period last year.
Perhaps as a result of this increased presence, no major incidents were observed in the areas of the City patrolled by Project L.E.A.R.N. officers. No unsafe fires were observed this year and the large crowds of unruly persons that were observed last year did not materialize.
Although there were no major incidents, there were a few minor incidents that generally involved individuals. There were a few occurrences involving broken glass and several residences in the Fleming Drive area were warned regarding Unlawful Assembly. There were still a large number of Provincial Offence notices issued by Project L.E.A.R.N. officers predominately for Liquor Licence Act violations and infractions of City by-laws. A detailed list of statistics for the first week of Project L.E.A.R.N. will be released September 8th.
