Just over two years ago www.northeastender.ca went on-line with the hope that it would generate content from as many voices as possible in Northeast London, London and beyond. It has succeeded beyond my wildest dreams passing the half million hit mark this week. Now the push is to get more and more voices and stories from others on the site. Here's one.

Today I was reading my completely on-line Free Press for $5 a month and loving it!.  When I read a letter to the editor about a couple who vacationed in Puerta Vallarta. They learned that the Canadian family who owned the resort that they were staying at help support a program which helped Mexicans in Puerta Vallarta to eek out a living at the City dump by collecting recylables and selling them to Certified recyclers on site.

This couple went with the resort owners to feed breakfast to the workers. I went to the site and read about the program which appeared well organized, well run and a source of hope for the people who work there. Click here to go to the Program's web site.

This couple ventured out of their comfort zone and took a few moments to write a letter to the editor. Now, tens of thousands know about this worthy venture. There is power in the electronic and ink pen.
