Mary Travers was chosen quite frankly because "Peter Paul & Mary have Created More Entertaining Music and Done more to Spread Good Will and Harmony in their Group and Solo careers worldwide over the past five decades than any group than I can think of.
I once saw Peter Paul and Mary perform at an amphitheatre outside of Detroit. Between sets all Mary could do was talk about how much she loved her new granddaughter with blond hair and how much she loved being a grandmother.
The hippie never grew out of Peter Paul or Mary and I wish that readers of this article take the time to research her life a bit. At the concert in 1989, it was an explosion of happiness and joy mixed with peace and goodwill. Dammit, I thought I was in the sixties instead of a short distance from an Interstate.
