On Friday January 1st, 2010, at approximately 1:00 am, London Police responded to a report of a disturbance on the 5th floor of the Homewood Suites Hotel located at 45 Bessemer Road. Upon police arrival a male and two females were found yelling in the hallway.
Police requested that the male involved identify himself, which he initially refused to do, and shortly after provided police with a name which through further investigation proved to be a false name. The male attempted to leave the hotel and was arrested for Mislead Police by giving a false name.
A struggle ensued and the male kicked, punched, and spat at both officers. During the struggle the male reached out and grabbed the handle of the one officer’s gun and pulled at the holstered firearm. The male continued to struggle and a double bladed flick knife came free from the males clothing and fell to the ground.
Police then gained control of the male at which time he handcuffed and transported to police cells. As a result of the investigation, a 17 year old London youth is charged with assault police x2, take weapon of peace officer in execution of his duty, obstruct police, mislead police, possess prohibited weapon, and fail to comply with youth criminal justice act sentence x2.
