Date of Meeting: 2009 December 15 -

Item #: REPORT TO: BOARD x Public In Camera, - COMMITTEE - Public In Camera

PRESENTED FOR: x Approval SOURCE: Capital Planning Coordinating Committee

SUBMITTED BY: Karen Dalton, Executive Superintendent

Operations Services - SIGNATURE:

SUBJECT: ARC 11 - SIR GEORGE ROSS AND THAMES SECONDARY SCHOOLS

RECOMMENDATION: THAT ACCOMMODATION REVIEW COMMITTEE 11 (SIR GEORGE ROSS AND THAMES

SECONDARY SCHOOLS) BE DISBANDED.

Purpose To receive the Administrative recommendation to disband ARC 11 involving Sir George Ross and

Thames Secondary Schools.

Content ARC 11 convened an Organizational Meeting 2009 January 28 and held public input meetings 2009

April 27, June 10, September 17, November 05 and 16.

Concerns were articulated by the ARC 11 members regarding the need for more details about the

proposed program enhancements to the Service Technology Programs compared to those that

currently exist in Sir George Ross and Thames Secondary Schools. Such details are required before

the members of ARC 11 feel they are able to provide input to the Board of Trustees. As a result, no

report has resulted from ARC 11 deliberations.

Senior Administration understands the concerns expressed by the ARC 11 members related to the

need for more details about the proposed enhanced program opportunities as they relate to students

registered in Specialized Service Technology programs within the City of London. Senior

Administration will provide the details of these potential enhancements as part of the Senior

Administration’s overall review of Technology. This review cannot be completed and reported on within

the time constraints of the accommodation review process.

Senior Administration will conclude its Review of Vocational Programming and begin a Review of

Technology (including Specialized Service Technology programs within the City of London)

immediately, and will report its findings of these reviews and subsequent recommendations to the

Board.

Sir George Ross and Thames Secondary Schools will continue to operate and offer their current

programs.  Following receipt of the reports from the reviews, the Board may consider establishing a new ARC

including Sir George Ross and Thames Secondary Schools. Additional secondary schools may be

considered for inclusion when the new ARC is established.
