Follow-up on NEW Provincial Rent and Sales Tax Credits

to Replace those in Income Tax Forms

This Information Should not be Considered a Replacement for the expert information that a Certified Tax Preparer, your MPP or other Government  offices can supply. It is provided as information only that readers will have to supplement with more research.

Now I doubt there are thousands of readers out there clamoring to read the Ontario Government Web site. However I opened a can of worms with a comment regarding major changes to the Tax Credits the Province gives low and mid-income Ontarians for their Rent and Sales Tax. I thought I would give some links on the Ontario Government web site which deal with this issue.

Don't take this information as the last word on these subjects.

CHANGES ARE COMING IN 2010. Make sure that you file a return for 2009 and call your MPP or Tax Preparer if you have questions. They should be able to help.

One of the big changes is that these subsidies or credits will be sent to those who are eligible several times throughout the year instead of just once at tax time. It is vital that Ontario residents who expect to receive this money, file tax returns every year. These credits are calculated on information in tax returns.

To read about the changes click on the following links on the Ontario Government web site
