Slapshot 1 with Paul Newman and the beloved Hanson (Carlsen Brothers) is truly the gem of the series. Newman is the wily old veteran playing one more season for a losing minor league hockey team somewhere in the mid-west where the only employer (mill) is shutting down.

SLAPSHOT!!! 2 and 3 were without doubt straight to video releases but if you like taped knuckles, Old Time Hockey, Turk Broda, Gordie Howe and Dick Klapper you will love these sequels. In #2 the brothers win the Lottery and save the team from extinction. They also get to eat steak instead of beef jerkey and root beer.
In SLAPSHOT!!! 3 an evil land developer wants to buy up the town and turn it into strip malls and power centers like Northwest London. The Hansons have turned to Bhuddism as they have screwed up their marriages and squandered a good part of their fortune.
The "Paul Newman Home for Boys," no kidding that's the name is about to be foreclosed on by the developer and the orphans hatch a plot with the Hansons to save the home. Leslie Nielson, Doug Gilmour and Mark Messier do cameos in this one.
You will need to search a bit to find 2 and 3 but keep looking. Get a bunch of your guy friends together and prepare to do some silly laughing. Refreshments are a must. The Hanson Brothers have become pretty good actors in this one and they deliver. These are silly movies but they are a good reason for a boys night out with plenty of refreshments and man talk.
