Fans flock to Comerica Park to say their last goodbyes to Ernie Harwell. His casket lay at at the stadium on May 6th before a private funeral.
Ernie Harwell was more than an announcer. He was an ambassador for the Tigers and a friend for all those shift workers and people who couldn't make it to the park. They listened on radios and hung on every word he said .
Ernie had a special way of calling each game and it was a part of the rhythm of the season. There is a season for everything and tonight, it is a season for Ernie to rest and go on to be with his beloved God of whom he spoke of so often in his life.
GOD BLESS YOU ERNIE! AND GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY, ESPECIALLY YOUR WIFE LULU!!
