Celebrating London’s Olympic and Paralympic Athletes
Tickets for London’s Homecoming to honour its world-class athletes will be available starting Monday, May 31 at various locations across the city. The celebration called Inspiring a Dream is a free community event at the John Labatt Centre on June 21 at 7:30 p.m. Londoners are invited to pick up their free tickets at any of the following locations:
City Hall (300 Dufferin Avenue)
Canada Games Aquatic Centre (1045 Wonderland Rd N)
Carling Heights Community Centre (656 Elizabeth St)
South London Community Centre (1119 Jalna Blvd)
North London Optimist Community Centre (1345 Cheapside St)
The celebration - sponsored by Best Western Lamplighter, City of London, Labatt, Pacific and Western Bank, RBC Royal Bank, RONA and Siskind the Law Firm - promises to be an amazing night of entertainment, community pride and fun.
To date, we have confirmed gold medalists Tessa Virtue, Scott Moir and Christine Nesbitt as three guests of honour. Also confirmed are Olympians David Duncan and Joe Bartoch; and Paralympians Joseph Barker, Adam Dukovich, Tammy McLeod and David Willsie.
As the event draws closer, we are hopeful several other athletes will be able to participate. Although gold medal hockey player Drew Doughty has sent regrets, his teammate Corey Perry remains on the invitation list. Also invited are 2008 Summer Olympians Jessica Zelinka (Athletics), Adam Stern (Baseball), Adam Trupish (Boxing); Adam Kreek and Lesley Thompson-Willie (Rowing), as well as London Paralympians Annette Lisabeth, Andrea Cole and Darda Sales.
The Celebration Committee is also delighted to announce Orchestra London, under the direction of conductor Jeff Christmas, singer/songwriter Alan Frew (formerly of Glass Tiger) and local skating clubs will perform at the event.
Londoners are encouraged to get their tickets early for this highly-anticipated special night of recognition.
