City Staff Provide Tenants on Kipps Lane with Vegatable & Bedding Plants

Everything Necessary to Make Their Balconies Bloom

City of London vehicles arrived at high rises in late July with bedding plants, soil, containers and other supplies necessary to make their balconies bloom. Friends still living at the TransGlobe buildings from 740 to 758 Kipps Lane told me about this event.

Many of the plants are doing really well. One tenant was given a tomato plant which has grown to five feet and will soon bear sweet cherry tomatoes. I saw the large tomato plant in late August.

It was a great idea and one that should be repeated next year as the tenants I spoke to appreciated the initiative. I've been gardening on my balcony (tomatoes, annual flowers) for five years now. It's  a wonderful way to bring life to otherwise high rises that benefit from the life which gardens and plants bring to them.
