15 years of curbside collection set to begin – the
London Cares
Curbside Food Drive needs donations June 10 - 18
The London Cares Curbside Food Drive kicks off its 15th year of curbside collection this Friday. Last year 77,320 pounds were collected during the campaign.
If Londoners collectively donate about 86,000 pounds of non-perishable food this year, we’ll reach our one millionth pound of food donated since the Food Drive began in 1997!
"This year's Curbside Food Drive marks an important milestone - 15 years of incredible generosity shown by Londoners. With each donation making a real difference in helping other Londoners that have fallen on hard times, we thank the community for its unselfish support," says Glen Pearson, Co-Executive Director, London Food Bank.
“London is a city of action and the London Cares Curbside Food Drive is a prime example of how people are engaged in their community. Fifteen years ago a great idea was born of necessity and each year our citizens pull out their non-perishables and get involved to help their neighbours and their community. Londoners show they care and that says it all.” says Mayor Fontana.
All food collected through the Curbside Food Drive is donated to the London Food Bank. This is a necessary service for those who need a helping hand to get through difficult periods of their lives. The London Food Bank helps 3,040 families per month on average.
