MP ENCOURAGES CONSTITUENTS OF LONDON NORTH CENTRE TO DONATE
London, Ontario; July 25, 2011—
Today, Susan Truppe—Member of Parliament for London North Centre and Parliamentary Secretary for Status of Women—made a donation to CARE Canada for East African Drought Relief.
``The situation in East Africa is tragic," said MP Truppe. "Canadians, and especially the residents of London North Centre, have a history of generosity and helping those in need. That is why I encourage all of the residents of London North Centre to donate to a Canadian registered charity of their choice to help those affected the unfortunate drought in East Africa."
The Government of Canada has increased its financial assistance by $50 million and established the East Africa Drought Relief Fund. For every dollar an individual Canadian donates over a 10-week period to a registered Canadian charity responding to the drought in East Africa, the Government will contribute an equivalent amount to the East Africa Drought Relief Fund.
To donate, constituents are encouraged to contact the Canadian registered charity of their choice. MP Truppe’s Facebook page contains links to a myriad of these charities.
