3 Great Movies on Basic Cable This Week Courtesy of CHCH (Cable 11 from Hamilton)

Finally A Bit of  Value for The $40+ a Month

The 3 Movies Featured on CHCH (Cable 11) This week were:

1. Animal House (1978) with John Belushi and an All-Star Funny Cast

2. Rocky  ( Sylvester Stallone, Burgess Meredith) This is where the Rocky Series should have stopped.

This movie would have been the perfect FINAL sequel to "Rocky!"  Too Bad Greed got in the Way.
3. Hearts in Atlantis (2001, Stephen King Drama). This film with Anthony Hopkins as the lead pulls you along from beginning to end. Anton Yelchin and Mika Boorem play the spellbound youngsters enthralled by this mystery man who has come to live as a roomer in Yelchin's house. It's a great movie. Like all of King's stories you have to  allow the story to pull you along.
WHY CAN'T WE SEE MORE OF THIS?

NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO WATCH REALITY SHOWS OR POORLY MADE SITCOMS

I don't own a game console so I can't subscribe to NetFlix. I also don't want to pay $8 a month plus taxes more on my television bill.  Buying movies for $5.99 plus tax from Rogers at Home is like adding insult to injury on my basic cable bill at the end of the month. I hate going to the movie rental store. Aside from paying for another movie, it takes forever to pick one.

There are of course a few channels like CHCH (Cable 11) and a few others that regularly show older but really good movies. I can't escape the reality show drivel and whatever sitcoms they are still producing and enjoy a nice evening of television. What a concept!

You'd think Rogers could get rid of some of the seldom watched channels on basic and give us a break. I'd love to watch TSN so I could watch the CFL. I love to watch to get rid of the channels there isn't a chance in hell that I am going to watch. You know which ones they are.

In Canada we have a Government Body called the CRTC which is supposed to make sure we get a fair deal from our Television and Radio broadcasters. Add up your cable/satellite, Phone, Internet bills and ask yourself whether the CRTC is doing a good job. The basic package that cable and satellite providers give is terrible, but there is no other choice. Soon "over the air broadcasting" will end..
