City to conduct blitz targeting idlers

During the week of September 19, City of London Municipal Law Enforcement Officers will be carrying out an enforcement blitz of the Idling Control By-Law at London schools, malls, and other locations to raise awareness of the City of London’s Idling Control By-Law.

Under the Idling Control By-Law, vehicles are not permitted to idle for more than two minutes.

During the enforcement blitz, officers will be issuing $50 tickets to offenders.

“Since the passing of the Idling By-Law, our interactions with the public have been focused on education of the by-law. During this blitz a zero tolerance approach will be employed” said Orest Katolyk, Manager of Licensing and Municipal Law Enforcement Services for the City of London.

More information about the Idling Control By-Law is available www.london.ca.
