·The Mayor took note of two important November events in which he and many others are taking part:Movember, in support of prostate cancer initiatives, and Shine the Light on Woman Abuse.
·Council approved an extension of the temporary ban on new methadone clinics until May 2012, in order to conduct further public consultation and analysis on this issue. A public meeting on methadone clinics is being held this Thursday, November 10.

Council agreed to defer the closure of the River Road Golf Course (page 52) for one year with a report back on the 2012 performance. This decision was partly based on an extremely wet spring which impacted revenues.
·Council approved a package of initiatives that will enhance the downtown area and improve the experience of the World Figure Skating Championships in 2013. Some of the initiatives approved include downtown lighting improvements, new signage, free wireless internet access, street furniture, special light shows, projection of the events on the exterior of buildings and fireworks.
