London's City Manager - Mr. Jeff Fielding - Announces Resignation
Mayor Joe Fontana announced today that he has regretfully accepted Jeff Fielding’s resignation from the City of London, effective January 29, 2012 as he moves on to a new position. Mr. Fielding will take up the position of City Manager, City of Burlington, effective January 30, 2012.
“We are fortunate to have had Jeff as our City Manager for the last eight years. He has been a strong and determined leader of this organization and he has positioned us well to meet the challenges of the coming years,” said Mayor Fontana.
“His guidance and leadership will be missed by all of us, but I certainly understand that family and career considerations are important factors in this move and we respect his decision. On behalf of City Council, I want to thank and congratulate Jeff for his service to the community and City of London and on his many accomplishments. We wish him and his family much success and happiness.”
Jeff Fielding has been the City Manager in London for the past eight years starting in April, 2004. Prior to coming to London, Mr. Fielding was the CAO with the City of Kitchener, where he was born and raised. He also has worked in Edmonton, Winnipeg, Calgary and Kitchener where he has held a variety of positions.
Council will begin to recruit for a new City Manager immediately. Effective January 30, 2012, Council has determined that Tim Dobbie will take over on an interim basis pending recruitment of a permanent City Manager. Tim is a former City Manager. Most recently, he has worked closely with the City of London on the ongoing review of its organizational structure.
