Vandals Break into George Ross S.S. on Belfield off Kipps Lane | Print |  E-mail
Written by See_Article
Friday, 25 July 2008

In the Kipps Lane area, it's not a question of whether there is going to be serious crime. It's a matter of when it occurs and of severity. The damage done to Ross in the recent break-in to Ross was reported at $400,00 in the London Free Press. Read Joe Belanger's entire column by clicking here.

Ross is also home to the office of the Kipps Lane Initiative. The City Initiative was unveiled over a year ago. To this point it has provided some recreational programs and undertaken a massive study in the area.

The purpose of the study and the release date of its results remain unknown. A separate study of the area was completed in 2006 by the London InterCommunity Health Centre. It identified the key problems in the area such as social isolation, poor transportation, lack of facilities for community and recreation services and issues relating to social services. What exactly the City expects to gain from its massive house to house study is unknown. The LIHC study was thorough and complete.
