In my last "Rent Rant" published on LondonTopic.ca I took students to task for expecting their landlords and student unions to provide off campus students with activities and opportunities for them to get together and break the social isolation. One student from Western took me to task and rightfully so. She was right and I was abysmally wrong.

There are plenty of opportunities for new students to meet with older students for social events, to obtain academic help or just to have talk to someone when you are feeling a bit stressed.
The Western Off-Campus program is very well organized, and provides individual help. They even have a lounge on campus. Please search this web site. There are many people in SOCS just waiting to help you adjust to your new home and school.
Kevin: I read your well thought out Post on My Bottom Step and I totally agree. The Northeastender.ca is a community site which is always open to articles, posting, photos, events, art work news you name it, anything which tells London about the good things that students are doing at Western and Fanshawe. Please email any of the above to dimitrie@sympatico.ca. Guidelines are posted but they are rarely a problem. This site is here for you and any other student who wants to show London all the contributions students make to this City.
