Youth Outreach Workers (YOW)

North East London now has four outreach workers for youth ages12-21 in your community!

The team’s main aim is to increase youth’s access to opportunities.  We can connect youth within the North East Community to a wide range of opportunities such as basic needs, leadership prospects, recreation, education, employment, housing, peer guidance, family support, community involvement, volunteer opportunities, etc.

Our team can provide information on relevant programs, services and resources; guide and aid youth through the process; and encourage active participation and involvement in the neighbourhood.

The Youth Outreach Workers also aim to be present, approachable, and accessible in the North East Community by being visible in areas where youth ‘hang out’ such as parks, arenas, playgrounds, school yards, community events, etcetera to establish positive relationships with youth and their families.

The only eligibility requirements are age (12-21) and that the youth are ‘in’ the North East (i.e. resides, goes to school, or even just ‘hangs out’ withinmandated boundaries). It is a free service.  To contact the Youth Outreach Worker team, please call the voice mail box.

It is not a complicated phone system and it will offer a quick response (usually within 24 hours).  There is also an email address that can be used to access the YOW team (also shown below).

It is best to leave a message with a name and contact information (i.e. phone or email). However, the YOW team respects confidentiality so the caller or contact can remain anonymous.

For more information about the Youth Outreach Workers, please visit our  Website http://www.lihc.on.ca/youth_outreach.html  The team can also be accessed via Facebook under the group name ‘Northeast London Youth Outreach Workers’.
