London Police Service is currently conducting Project L.E.A.R.N. in the City. The Project has just concluded its first week and officers laid a total 291 charges including 283 Provincial Offence Act charges and By -law offences Laid and 9 Criminal Code Charges Laid.  Of those charges laid 187 were students and 65 were non students.

One of the latest incidents included Police arresting a 17 year old male of Etobicoke for fighting on Fleming Drive causing a large group of people to gather on September 2nd at 1:13 am. This male was charged with resisting arrest and causing a disturbance.

Officers will continue to patrol the areas surrounding downtown, the University of Western Ontario and Fanshawe College.

A reminder that London’s Noise By-law is in effect twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week with an out of court set fine of $215 for each occupant.

Subsequent Police response could result in all occupants being summoned to court to answer in front of a Justice of the Peace with a maximum fine up to $5000 for each person. Citizens are encouraged to report noise bylaw violations as it assists the London Police Service in our enforcement efforts. :

Police would also like to remind citizens to not put out garbage before garbage day. Over the past week there have been incidents where garbage has been set on fire in the area of Fleming Drive. Police continue to investigate these incidents. If anyone has any information about these fires please contact Police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. You can also provide your tips online at www.londoncrimestoppers.com.

Today officers from the Community Services Unit will continue to attend residences surrounding the Fanshawe College Area in order to educate residents and students about past problems and regarding Police response to any future complaints or incidents.

Students will also be educated on how they can protect their property from being the target of a break and enter. The purpose is to educate students so that their stay in London will be a positive and enjoyable experience.
