On Saturday October 11 2008 at 12:56 am Police were called to the area of Commissioners Road East and Meadowgate Boulevard in regards to a young female intoxicated or high. Police located a 16 year old female incoherent, unable to identify herself, pupils were severely dilated and her eyes were rolling back in her head.
It was determined that the female had consumed Jimson Weed also known as Devil’s Seed and was taken to hospital. There have been a number of similar cases in the south end of the City where ingestion of Jimson Weed has had ill effects on young persons. All parts of the Jimson Weed are poisonous and if ingested can cause poisoning and death.Police advise the Public that ingesting Jimson Weed can be dangerous to the user and others.
