On Thursday, October 30, 2008, at approximately 12:00 noon, witnesses reported seeing a male with what appeared to be a handgun in the area of Algonquin Crescent, and immediately called police and provided them with a description.

Police attended the area and observed a male matching the description walking through the Fairmont Public School yard, located at 1040 Hamilton Road.

Police immediately notified the school to be on lock-down, and officers, including Emergency Response, arrested the male.  Further investigation revealed that the handgun was, in fact, a replica handgun. As a result of the investigation, a 17 year old male, from London, has been charged with one count of possessing a weapon dangerous to public peace.
