The true story of a young London woman who was the victim of dating violence is the basis of an original movie produced by the Thames Valley District School Board to encourage discussion of ways to prevent violence and promote healthy methods of conflict resolution.
The movie will be screened as part of the Board’s Safe Schools program this fall, aimed at engaging high school students on violence-related issues. The Board is committed to providing a learning environment where all students feel safe, valued, respected and welcome.
The purpose of the film is to not only show the warning signs of dating violence but also to think about how we can support both the victims and perpetrators of dating violence in positive ways.
As part of the film, secondary school students from TVDSB were interviewed and asked questions related to dating and what they would do if they believed that a friend was in an unhealthy relationship.
Each TVDSB secondary school will receive a package containing a DVD copy of the film which is approximately 15 minutes long, as well as a CD of classroom activities to be facilitated following the video.
