Renew London - 2010 construction announced

The website london.ca/construction also features an interactive map which provides information about projects by clicking on the location.

The City of London is set to launch into its largest construction season ever.

Worked kicked off late February with the start of the Hale and Trafalgar Streets overpass, to be followed by a full slate of activity citywide throughout spring and summer.

“We have been presented with an excellent opportunity,” said the City of Londons Division Manager of Construction Administration, Justin Lawrence. “This year, financial assistance provided from the Governments of Canada and Ontario and the City of London under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund has meant we can get more of the needed work done than in a typical year."

Top 10 projects in 2010 also include the widening of Wonderland Road between Gainsborough Road and Fanshawe Park Road and watermain and road reconstruction on Dundas Street between Clarke Road and Crumlin Road.

"Infrastructure and road rehabilitation work is important and necessary," said Pat McNally, General Manager of Environmental & Engineering Services and City Engineer. "It's money being spent to make the city safer, healthier and more efficient for generations to come and creating jobs for Londoners right now."

Every effort is being made to ensure Londoners are aware of construction zones and traffic detours, resulting from road work, sewer rehabilitation and watermain relining projects. Daily updates are provided to media and a website is available 24/7 for anyone to find out about road closures, ongoing and upcoming projects on city streets. The website london.ca/construction also features an interactive map which provides information about projects by clicking on the location.
